When the body of 20-year-old Siluni Edirimanne was found on the banks of the Kelani River, the investigation was handed over to a brilliant detective named Ranjan Rodrigo. Uvindu Prabhaswara, a young man who was studying criminology at the time, was filming from beginning to end of the investigation in order to create a documentary on the criminal investigation.
Meanwhile, Siluni’s best friend, Aksha de Silva, rescues the hard drive of Siluni’s computer at her request before she dies, in order to hand it over to the police. But Aksha, who thinks it is more important to reveal to the world the extremely dark story behind Siluni’s death, publishes one by one of the content on that hard drive on her Facebook page called ‘Sailor’s Knot’, revealing a dark truth that goes beyond mere murder.
The film manages to capture the essence of human relationships, the dark side of Sri Lankan politics, love, selfishness, introspection, the pursuit, the fulfillment of human nature. The way it is used unfolds on the silver screen as a unique cinematic experience that the Sri Lankan audience has never experienced in Sinhala cinema.
20 හැවිරිදි තරුණියක වන සිළුනි එදිරිමාන්නගේ මෘත දේහය කැළණි ගං ඉවුරෙන් හමුවීමත් සමඟ, එකී පරීක්ෂණය භාර වන්නේ රන්ජන් රුද්‍රිගෝ නැමැති අති දක්ෂ පොලිස් පරීක්ෂකවරයාටය. ඒ වන විට අපරාධ විද්‍යාව හදාරමින් සිටින තරුණයෙකු වන උවිඳු ප්‍රභාෂ්වර, එකී පරීක්ෂණයේ මුල සිට අග දක්වා රූගත කරන්නේ අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණය – සම්බන්ධ වාර්තා වැඩසටහනක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමේ අටියෙනි.
මේ අතර මියගිය සිළුනිගේ හොඳම මිතුරිය වන, ආක්ෂා ඩි සිල්වා, මිය යාමට පෙර සිළුනිගේ ඉල්ලීමක් අනුව ඇගේ පරිඝණකයේ හාඩ් ඩ්‍රයිව් එක ගලවාගෙන පැමිණෙන්නේ එය පොලීසිය අතට පත්කිරීමේ අටියෙනි. නමුත් – සිළුනිගේ මරණය පිටුපස ඇති අතිශයින්ම අඳුරු කතාන්දරය ලොවට හෙළිකිරීම වඩා වැදගත් යැයි සිතන ආක්ෂා, ‘සේලර්ස් නොට්’ නම් වූ තම ෆෙස් බුක් පිටුවේ එකී හාඩ් ඩ්‍රයිව් එකේ ඇති දත්ත එකින් එක පළ කරන්නේ හුදු මිනීමැරුමකට එහා ගිය අඳුරු සත්‍යයක් හෙළි කරමිනි.
සමාජ මාධ්‍ය හමුවේ මානව සම්බන්ධතා දියැවී යාම, ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය දේශපාලනයේ අඳුරු අහුමුළු, ප්‍රේමය, ආත්මාර්ථකාමීත්වය, තමාගේම පෞරුෂ තුළට එබී බැලීම් මැදින්, වියෝවීම්, ලුහුබැඳයාම්, යුතුකම් ඉටුකිරීම් දක්වා කුතුහලය ද, ත්‍රාසය ද, මනුෂ්‍ය ස්වභාවයන් ද ගෙනහැර දක්වමින් ඉදිරියට ගලායන සේලරුවාගේ සළකුණ චිත්‍රපටය, සත්‍ය ශ්‍රව්‍ය-දෘෂ්‍ය අමුද්‍රව්‍ය භාවිතා කළ ආකාරයෙන් රිදී තිරය මත දිගහැරෙන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා අන් කිසි දිනකවත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය සිනමාව තුළ අත්විඳ – අත්දැක නැති සුවිශේෂී සිනමාත්මක අද්දැකීමක් විලසිනි.
Priyanath Vidanapathirana has eight years of experience in the field, having worked as a screenwriter on many popular teledramas including “Sakuge Kathawa”, “Iththo”, “Sakuge Lokaya”, “Nadi” and several movies that in the pre-production stage. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Television Production Technology and has directed several short films, documentaries, and music videos. His web series “Sawariyak” is releasing this March (2022). He has authored two novels, “Sandwich” and “Litmus” and is also the Secretary of the Screenwriters Guild of Sri Lanka. Priyanath Vidanapathirana is working as a Visiting Lecturer in several leading film and television courses in Sri Lanka. He is also the Associate Editor of the academic Journal “Annual Journal of Film & Television Studies”; which is the first academic journal for Film & Television studies in Sri Lanka. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Media Research.
“සකූගේ කතාව”, “ඉත්තෝ”, “සකූගේ ලෝකය”, “නාඩි” ඇතුළු ජනප්‍රිය ටෙලිනාට්‍යය රැසකත්, මේ වන විට පූර්ව නිෂ්පාදන අවධියේ පවතින සිනමාපට කිහිපයකත් තිර රචකයා ලෙස කටයුතු කර ඇති ප්‍රියනාත් විදානපතිරණ, ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ වසර 8ක අද්දැකීම් ඇත්තෙකි. සිනමා හා රුපවාහිනී නිෂ්පාදන තාක්ෂනය පිළිබඳ තාක්ෂනවේදී උපාධිදාරියෙකු වන හෙතම, අධ්‍යක්ෂකවරයෙකු ලෙස, කෙටි චිත්‍රපට, වාර්තා වැඩසටහන්, සංගීත වීඩියෝපට කිහිපයක්ම අධ්‍යක්ෂනය කර ඇති අතර ඔහු විසින් අධ්‍යක්ෂනය කල “සවාරියක්” වෙබ් මාලා නාටකය මෙම මාර්තු (2022) මාසයේ දී ප්‍රේක්ෂකයා හමුවට ඉදිරිපත් වීමට නියමිතය. නවකතාකරුවෙකු ලෙස “සැන්ඩ්විච්” හා “ලිට්මස්” නමින් නවකතා දෙකක් රචනා කර ඇති හෙතම, ශ්‍රී ලංකා තිර රචකයන්ගේ සංසදයේ ලේකම් වරයා ලෙසද කටයුතු කරයි. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රධාන පෙලේ සිනමා හා ටෙලිවිෂන් අධ්‍යයන පාඨමාලා කිහිපයකම බාහිර කථිකාචාර්ය වරයෙකු ලෙස සේවය කරන ප්‍රියනාත් විදානපතිරණ, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පළමු සිනමා අධ්‍යයන ජර්නලය වන Annual Journal of Film and Television Studies හි සහකාර සංස්කාරක වරයාද වෙයි. මේ වන විට ඔහු මාධ්‍ය පර්යේෂනකරණය පිළිබඳ තම ශ්‍රාස්ත්‍රපති උපාධිය හදාරමින් සිටියි.
